We just launched a preview release of Google App Engine , a way for developers to run their web applications on Google's infrastructure. In the same way that Blogger made it easy to create a blog, Google App Engine is designed from the ground up to make it easy to create and run web applications.

With Google App Engine, developers can write web applications based on the same building blocks that Google uses, like GFS and Bigtable . Google App Engine packages those building blocks and provides access to scalable infrastructure that we hope will make it easier for developers to scale their applications automatically as they grow. This means they can spend less time dealing with system administration and maintenance, and more time building and improving their applications. (There's more detail on the new App Engine Blog.)

Google App Engine is free to use during the preview release, but the amount of computing resources any app can use is limited. In the future, developers will be able to purchase additional computing resources as needed, but Google App Engine will always be free to get started.

Today's launch is a preview release. We've got a lot left to do, and there are a lot of features we still want to add to the system. What we'd really like is to get your feedback on it, so we know which features are most important to you. We'll use your suggestions to keep improving the system.

This preview of Google App Engine is available for the first 10,000 developers who sign up; we will increase that number in near future. So, developers, please sign up , download the SDK , and start your engines.

This is simple but very useful synchronization utility.
This program requires .NET framework.

This freeware can synchronize only files which were modified in the past few days. So, you can have two large folders on two computers, and you are using Flash Drive for copying files, for example. When you make some change in one of these folders, you can call Sync Last Files for synchronization. It will copy only modified files to the Flash Drive. This greatly helps to synchronize big folders, which are normally can't be placed on the Flash Drive entirely.
Another great feature of this utility is capability of making incremental backups of files which are will be replaced. So you can return to any version of a file, if you incendentialy damaged last version of that file.

Ipods AND MP3s Ok, and of course everyone wanted their CDs uploaded which meant they had to be converted to MP3 format.

So what's the problem?

Well these are huge files so they have to be compressed to a size that is a fraction of the conversion size BUT with minimum loss of audio quality - could I find a piece of software to do this?

Yes I could but there were always some sort of restrictions.

When I am on holiday I am not supposed to be tinkering with the Internet (family time) so I waited till the sales were on and found a quiet moment and posted a project on Scriptlance to get one made and today sees the first release of MP3Reducer.

Here i will explain to how to create single or multipage PDF files for free.
All programs and drivers are free to use and can be downloaded from the Internet.

It works like this:
You print from any windows program to a fake postscript printer that has a port mapped to Redmon. Redmon outputs a Postscript file that is handled by Mulps21pdf who puts the postscript file through Ghostscript. Ghostscript creates the actual PDF file.

The basic steps to take are:
1. Install Ghostscript.
2. Install Redmon Redirection Port Monitor.
3. "Install" Mulps21pdf.
4. Setup the printer.

Some Internet companies are now offering free vaccine programs
that can detect and treat computer viruses in real time.

Yahoo Korea said Wednesday that it will provide a free service to
detect and treat viruses in real time through its Yahoo Toolbar application.
While the company has offered a free anti-virus program since September,
the real-time detection function is new and a first for an Internet portal.

ESTsoft, a software developer, said it will start distributing its new vaccine program
Alyac for free starting Thursday. Anyone who wants to use it can
download it from the company's website ( www.alyac.co.kr ).

These free anti-virus programs from portals and software companies are
likely to pose a threat to companies that specialize in selling security software.
An official from a security software developer said, "We are confident that paid
services are better than free ones, but since consumers are very sensitive to prices
we are concerned that the market may be affected by these new services."
